Sainsbury’s retail director Helen Buck is among a high-quality line-up of speakers at this year’s National Fruit Show Conference.

There will be two sessions at the event on 16 October at the Kent Showground in Detling, focusing on issues relating to retailing and production.

Among the speakers will be Carol Ford of Partners in Produce, who will focus on modern methods of fresh produce marketing, and Janine Climie of Maidstone Studio School, who will discuss how to educate a new generation of horticulturalists.

Mark Lumsdon-Taylor of Hadlow College will examine the possibilities presented by apprenticeships, while Professor John Price, Master of the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers and a retired paediatrician, will talk about how to get children enthused about eating fruit.Consultant Rene Pollak will discuss the Say No to Drift campaign.

Other speakers includeJanet Goode and Neil Emery of Whitehead Monckton and Mike Butler of Compo Expert UK, who will cover a range of issues of relevance to growers.

National Fruit Show chair Sarah Calcutt said: 'We have secured a range of high-quality speakers who are all very active making a difference across the fruit industry. They will share their knowledge of how to help businesses thrive and it should make for an unmissable event.'
