Sainsbury’s has been voted the nation’s favourite retailer over the past 175 years in a survey carried out by Retail Trust, the national charity for the retail industry.
The charity commissioned research to identify British retailers that have helped shape the UK’s high street and industry, as part of its 175th anniversary celebrations this year.
Other entrepreneurial retailers who featured in the top five include Sir Philip Green, who runs the Arcadia retail giant and Anita Roddick, who founded The Body Shop in 1976.
