Sainsbury’s is aiming to double its c-store portfolio in the next three to four years.
The news comes off the back of its acquisition of the c-store chain JB Beaumont this week.
Jim McCarthy, Sainsbury’s md of convenience, told Convenience Store magazine he is aiming to increase turnover in the sector to £1 billion in the next few years and grow store numbers from 260 to 400-500.
East Midland’s based JB Beaumont had six stores and a turnover of around £13 million. The acquisition follows Sainsbury’s purchases of Bells Stores and Jacksons earlier this year.
