MacGillivary: industry prepared

Two-thirds of respondents to a survey carried out in the first monthly newsletter of leading recruitment specialist Redfox said that the acquisition of Safeway would have no significant short-term impact on their businesses.

The surprising statistic is due to the length of time the purchase is taking, according to Redfox md Max MacGillivary. "I think with the delay of the deal, companies within the fresh produce sector have been able to get used to the idea, form their plans around it and are now prepared for any eventuality," he told the Journal. "Even if it was to go through overnight, the behind the scenes work has been done and I don't think there would be too many companies who would be caught out."
