The outlook is bright for the citrus industry in South Africa this season, Capespan procurement director Martin Dunnett has revealed.
He said: “The citrus suppliers in South Africa are bullish about the season.
“The encouraging thing from a UK point of view is that we have had three or four years of intense competition, but there has been a bit of inflation in retail this year which is quite promising.”
Fruit Logistica provided the opportunity to catch up with major citrus players, he added.
He said: “The nice thing about our industry is that you can just enjoy the community, event though you may be in competition with each other, and it’s great to compare notes. There are a huge number of South Africans here and the networking opportunity is second to none.”
