Rubens Consortium members VOG and Elbe-Obst started a promotion campaign at Berlin’s Fruit Logistica, handing out more than 30,000 apples to commuters.
Eight Rubens promoters donated apples to travellers to give them a healthy welcome in Berlin central station and in S-Station Friedrichstraße. The promoters presented Rubens apples to passengers at the stations’ entrances and on the platforms.
The Rubens campaign was organised and sponsored by Elbe-Obst from North Germany and VOG of South Tyrol, following a similar promotional push in the Netherlands.
Within seven hours, more than 30,000 Rubens apples were distributed at the Berlin stations to customers.
Stefan Moje, general manager of Elbe-Obst, said: “The response is incredible; we were not assuming we would get such a great response. We had a very good response inside the fair; a lot of customers were talking about this promotion. The collaboration with VOG was very successful.”
Gerhard Dichgans, managing director of VOG, said the company would push for increased custom in the coming year. “The answers and the customers’ feedback show that consumers like this apple,” he said.
