Gloucestershire farmer Henry Robinson has been elected as president of the Country Land and Business Association (CLA).
Robinson has previously held the posts of deputy and vice president at the association.
The election took place today at CLA’s Annual General Meeting in London.
Henry said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be elected President of the CLA.
“I follow a long and distinguished line of CLA presidents and would like to pay tribute to their work and, in particular, the great contribution made by my immediate predecessor, Harry Cotterell.
“I look forward to the next two years with some trepidation but also with enthusiasm and excitement. A general election and european elections will take place during my period in office, providing a wealth of lobbying opportunities for the association.”
Retiring CLA president Harry Cotterell said: “I have greatly enjoyed my time as president and know I am leaving the association in the very capable hands of Henry Robinson whom I congratulate on his election to President.”
Robinson served as the CLA’s deputy president between November 2011 and November 2013. He was vice president and chair of the association’s policy committee between 2009 and 2011.
Ross Murray was elected deputy president, and Tim Breitmeyer, who has chaired the CLA’s national agriculture and land use committee, has been elected vice president.
