Fruit and vegetable importer and wholesaler Minor, Weir and Willis has raised its pre-tax profit and turnover.
In the financial year ending 31 December 2013, the Birmingham-headquarted business increased its profit from just under £2.2 million in 2012, to £3.1m in 2013.
Net turnover, meanwhile, was £137m in 2013, according to results posted to Companies House, up from just under £124m in 2012.
Around £136.4m of this turnover was from operations in the UK, with the rest coming from business conducted in other EU countries.
MD, Sant Mehta, said: 'The external commercial environment is expected to remain competitive in 2014, although we remain confident that we will have a satisfactory level of performance in the future.'
He added: 'The company value highly its strong customer base from which the majority of turnover is derived. Emphasis is therefore placed on maintaining close relationships with customers as long-term business partners.'
The company employed 201 staff in the financial year ending 31 December 2013, and Mehta noted that the group 'has a loyal workforce and does not experience significant staff turnover or labour relation problems.'
