Rijk Zwaan officially opened a second breeding station in China last week. Based in Guilin, in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi, the facility focuses on the development of vegetables for the southern part of the country.

Rijk Zwaan has been active on the Chinese vegetable market for almost 15 years and has a head office and breeding station in Qingdao, in Shandong province. Rijk Zwaan managing director Marco van Leeuwen said: “The southern part of China plays an important role in our expansion strategy. In Guilin we can develop and test varieties specifically for this region. Combined with our growing advice, in cooperation with our distributors, we want to develop and increase profitable vegetable production for the benefit of other stakeholders in the chain.”
