Rijk Zwaan exhibited at the 10th Sci-tech Fair

Rijk Zwaan has successfully presented its vegetable varieties at the China International Vegetable Sci-tech Fair.

Rijk Zwaan, which specialises in ‘blocky’ peppers and tomatoes in China, strengthened its position in the country’s aubergine and chilli markets. The Thunder RZ, a winter-cropping chilli pepper, attracted particular business interest due to its large, uniform appearance.

During the fair, Rijk Zwaan is also organising a variety demonstration at its own demo station in Shouguang. Rijk Zwaan has been active in China for more than 10 years and has its own establishment with new research facilities in Qingdao.

As well as breeding new varieties, Rijk Zwaan is also concentrating on developing supply chain and market relations in China.

The theme of the fair, which is taking place for the 10th time this year until May 20, is Green Fair, Hi-tech Fair, Innovative Fair, Development-based Fair.

It was visited by 7.5 million people in 2008 and is held annually in Shouguang, the centre of Chinese horticulture, in the province of Shandong.
