Gold medallist Ben Murphy

international vocational education awards WorldSkills London 2011 earlier this month.

Commis chef, Ben Murphy of Koffmann’s was awarded a gold medal for cooking at the competitions and as official fresh produce supplier to the cooking and confectioner/pastry categories at the event, Reynolds was one of the first to congratulate him.

Murphy was a member of the 43-strong UK team at the event.

Ian Nottage, Chef Director at Reynolds, commented: “We’re all really pleased for Ben and offer our congratulations on his fantastic achievement. He is a great example for young people to follow, proving that with hard work you can achieve success.”

Prior to the competition, Reynolds invited Murphy to perfect his cooking techniques in its own development kitchen where Nottage presented Ben with rabbit saddles as practice for the mystery box of ingredients that he would receive at the competition.

The biggest event ever to be held at ExCeL London, WorldSkills London 2011 attracted 200,000 young people from 5-8th October. Almost 1,000 of them from more than 50 countries competed in 46 skill areas including cooking, mobile robotics, landscape gardening and automobile technology.
