Tesco has increased its lead over its rival, claiming more than 30 per cent market share, according to latest figures.
Market analyst TNS Superpanel put the retail giant’s share now at 30.3 per cent for the 12 weeks to Jun 19, up from 27.9 per cent for the same period last year.
Tesco said it is taking market share from all of its rivals, but mainly from the troubled Morrisons group, which according to TNS has seen its market share drop from 14.1 per cent a year ago to just 11.7 per cent now.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s has continued to recover market share, up from 15.6 per cent to 15.9 per cent, narrowing the gap on Asda, which remains virtually unchanged at 16.4 per cent.
