Marion Regan has taken over the chairman’s role at KG Growers Ltd from Angus Davison MBE.
Davison, of Haygrove Ltd, has stepped down from the position after seven years, and Faversham grower Alastair Brooks has been appointed vice chairman.
KGG, with 75 grower members across the UK, including 15 in Scotland, has a turnover of £116 million and is the largest soft-fruit grower group in the UK. It co-owns the European marketing company Berry Gardens, along with its partners Driscolls and Alconeras.
Regan has been a director of KGG for more than 15 years, and is also a director of Berry Gardens. She said: “It is a privilege to take on the chairmanship of such a competent and innovative group of growers. The technical excellence and customer focus of all our individual businesses is a strength of KG Growers, and hence for Berry Gardens. The KG Growers board is committed to helping individual member businesses develop, so that we continue to be the largest, most responsive and competent group of fresh berry suppliers in Europe.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to Angus Davison for his focused and passionate leadership of KG Growers over the past seven years," she said. "This is a period which has seen enormous changes within the industry, many pioneered by those associated with our group, whether in marketing, customer relationship management, production or politics.
"I am delighted Angus is remaining on our board. He will also, for the time being, continue to sit on the Berry Gardens board with me. On that board we are representing KG Growers’ interests as a major shareholder, and also focussing on building Berry Gardens into the premier berry marketing company in Europe.”
