Re:fresh - your shout

The next phase of the Re:fresh Partnership’s research project, being carried out with agricultural consultancy Grant Thornton, got underway this week.

FPJ editor Tommy Leighton is touring the UK this week and next to talk to a cross-section of leaders from various sectors of the industry.

The first of the camera crew’s scheduled visits was to a freezing, but busy New Spitalfields market on Monday, where tenants’ association secretary Jim Heppel, pictured, as well as his chairman Chris Hutchinson, were interviewed. The responses will be edited and split into five separate DVDs to be aired as part of the programme at this year’s Re:fresh Conference, on May 11 at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square.

The tele-research survey that preceded this phase of the study was completed at the beginning of the month and has thrown up some fascinating views on the present and future of the fresh produce industry in the UK. The day’s programme, which we will publish in two weeks, will also see on-stage interviews and networking opportunities.

To find out what the industry in its broadest sense thinks of its long-term prospects, there is only one place to go this year.
