The programme for this year’s Re:fresh Conference is now out. It’s not too often I use this column for a bit of self-promotion, but Re:fresh is also the annual conference showpiece for this industry’s trade association, so bear with me this time.

This year’s event, which precedes the Re:fresh Awards at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square, on May 10, is titled The Fresh Produce Footprint, and will look at both the impact of the fresh produce industry on the environment and vice versa.

We have a great line-up of speakers. Find out what the Tories are thinking as they attempt to win back power from a limping Labour government. Listen to Sainsbury’s take on carbon emissions and corporate and social responsibility. And we have the return of the PMA, three years after they took the event by storm in 2004. What’s changed from a US perspective in the last three years?

Speakers will also tackle many of the topics that you may want to ignore, but can no longer afford to, such as risk management, climate change and food miles. The industry rarely has its say when major decisions are made in these controversial areas. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to influence the course of history.

Of course, the serious stuff ends with one big party at the Re:fresh Awards.
