The Re:fresh event will return this October with an all-new line up of awards categories tailored to the modern fresh produce trade.

The event returns by popular request to the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel in London on 10 October. TV chef James Martin, who hosted last year’s ceremony, will once again front the awards and compere the gala evening.

Awards categories have been completely revamped to reflect the wide range of innovations and initiatives taking place across the fresh produce trade.

New this year will be an Environmental Initiative award, which will recognise outstanding work in the corporate social responsibility, sustainability, green or ethical arenas.

An award for Collaboration will honour the best project that breaks down traditional barriers and sees several partners working together in non-traditional ways towards a goal that delivers truly sustainable outcomes. A further new award will be handed out for the Best Place to Work. This will go to the business that goes beyond standard benefits to support employees and ensure their health and happiness in a positive working environment.

Awards will be given for business excellence in two tiers – for companies with turnovers of over and under £50 million.

Individual awards will go to the young person and manager of the year, as well as a lifetime achiever.
The best retailers will be acknowledged in the independent, convenience and multiple categories, while an overall trader of the year will also be announced.

“These new awards categories have been introduced by popular request and reflect the changing demands placed on modern businesses,” said Nigel Jenney, chair of the judging panel. “We want to acknowledge those companies going above and beyond to deliver outstanding business practices.”

A revamped Re:fresh Conference featuring a top line up of speakers will take place earlier in the day, with details to be revealed shortly.
