This year’s Re:fresh conference and expo will focus on the changing face of the industry and how ‘the best of British’ are innovating to meet the challenges of getting produce to market as part of a sustainable food chain.

This popular event, which takes place on Thursday 19 May 2011 at the InterContinental Park Lane, London, will feature a line-up of high profile speakers discussing key issues facing today’s supply chain and how the industry may look in five to 10 years’ time. Two panel debates will allow the audience to put across their questions and views.

This year’s conference kicks off at midday with a session examining the changing roles of different sectors of the industry, in particular major retailers, and key issues affecting producers and importers. A second session will examine hurdles to getting to market, including the role of government and supply opportunities such as the 2012 Olympics.

The conference will be followed by the ‘Oscars’ of the industry, the Re:fresh awards. The glittering black tie event will once again see the best businesses competing across a range of categories, culminating in the unveiling of the Overall Trader of the Year.

Re:fresh is a partnership between the FPC and FPJ. For more details of sponsorship and expo opportunities contact Linda Bloomfield on 020 7501 3701.

Entries for the various awards categories will be accepted until 18 March and should be emailed to Angie Stuart at the FPC on angie@freshproduce.org.uk or posted with eight copies for the judges. Full application details will be available online from next week on www.refresh.uk.com.
