Packaging specialist Redpack has released a new flow wrapper machine to aid international tomato packers using its automated systems.

Redpack Packaging Machinery has now used its engineering design capabilities and application experience to launch an automatic tomato feed system which can be integrated into its P325 flow wrappers.

The stainless steel automatic feed system features a bulk tomato hopper, two feeder chutes and a sophisticated head control and monitoring facility which ensures the P325 flow wrapper in-feed receives sufficient produce to enable it to flow wrap up to 6,000 packs of tomatoes per hour.

It can handle tomato grades 47-52 and 52-57 and when the tomatoes are to be packed onto plastic or bio-degradable trays, an automatic carton dispenser is included within the flow wrapper configuration.

The stand-alone automatic feed system can also be used in conjunction with Redpack’s innovative P325 trayless tomato flow wrapping machines.

Redpack claims that, once fitted with the automatic feed, staff numbers on the in-feed are substantially reduced, normally providing investment payback within one year.

Redpack’s Steve Crow said: “In the last few months we have launched the new P325 trayless tomato flow wrapper and this automatic tomato feed system, which growers and packers can integrate with their existing Redpack machines. Both products represent major advances for the fresh produce industry.”
