Redpack makes waves abroad

Redpack Packaging Machinery has a new contract in the Netherlands for a Redpack P325 top seal flow wrapper. The machinery will to be used in the volume packing of asparagus destined for both home and overseas retail and will be delivered later in the year.

Redpack has worked with growers and packhouses for more than 30 years, adapting its rugged flow wrapping machines to suit both the product and the environment in which that product is to be packed.

Redpack’s latest range of P325 flow wrapping machines feature new electronics to allow high product throughput and rapid product-to-product changeover. A touch screen HMI allows password-protected access to product changeover parameters and provides the interface for machine diagnostics.

One of the options for awkwardly shaped and easily bruised products is an extended in-feed, where the products can be placed directly onto the film to be conveyed into the wrapping module. Product is transferred from the in-feed to the wrapping module seamlessly, with no friction of snag points.

Redpack’s Steve Crow said that the company’s design and engineering capabilities play a major role in its success in the global fresh produce market.

He said: “Our engineers work with our customers to provide individual flow wrapping solutions. This enables us to provide tray or trayless packaging for products as diverse in shape, size and constituency as tomatoes, Little Gem and Romaine lettuce, celery, kiwifruit and most recently, asparagus - to name but a few.

“Our engineers are also involved in ensuring that our machines are suitable for the environments in which they are to be used. In the fresh produce sector, we have a number of in-field, rig-mounted applications and that is when our rugged engineering and manufacturing really comes into its own.”
