Today, February 11, Redbridge Holdings Ltd has announced plans to merge two of its divisions. Redbridge Produce Marketing (RPM) and AFI will now become Redbridge AFI.

Denis Punter, Redbridge's chief executive, said: 'Bringing together the expertise of our two divisions makes perfect sense for our customers who will now have one point of contact rather than two. The merger gives us the opportunity to invest in a stronger combined operation delivering economies of scale and a more integrated service to our customers.' Redbridge has wasted no time in 2003 in getting itself in line with its customers' demands and this latest news comes after two recent announcements about strategic alliances with Worldwide Fruit and Chingford.

AFI is one of the UK's foremost authorities on soft fruits and has been part of Redbridge Holdings since 1998. Redbridge Produce Marketing (formerly known as Frumar Ltd) was acquired by Redbridge in 1996.

Together they will be: • A £100 million business • Supplying all sectors in the produce industry • Key specialists in softfruit and stonefruit, grape, exotics, salads and veg.

Richard Parke-Davies and Graham Blake will run Redbridge AFI as joint managing directors.
