Israeli summer fruit breeder Ben Dor Fruits has introduced the Red Rouge pear variety this week.
The fruit ripens relatively late in the season, enabling Ben-Dor to extend its summer fruit export period until the end of September.
Red Rouge is a red blush pear, with an elongated shape and a sweet taste.
The firm, which is located in Israel’s Upper Galilee region, grants franchises to growers in the southern hemisphere, and Ben Dor said, “there is a great interest in the new pear from international companies”.
