Scottish-grown garlic brand, Really Garlicky Garlic, has been launched into Tesco stores across the country this week.
The garlic is characterised by having six-eight large, easy-to-peel cloves and a smooth flavour.
Packs of two bulbs will be packaged in branded purple nets and will be available in 35 Tesco Scottish stores until December.
Glen Allingham from Highlands-based suppliers, the Really Garlicky Company, said it was the best quality harvest to date: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity by Tesco to reach a wider audience with our really garlicky garlic,” he said.
Sarah Mackie, Senior Scottish Buying Manager for Tesco said: “It is wonderful that a Scottish farming business has identified an opportunity to produce a niche product for the market. It is particularly impressive that garlic, perhaps more commonly associated with France, is being grown in the North East of Scotland! It is a great product and well worth a try.”
The garlic will be launched with product sampling at Tesco’s Inverness Extra store on August 25 and 26.
