Obviously after reading last week's Bushel Box, which featured a US Pumpkin giant, grower John Handbury has appeared in the national press, revealing the secret of his own home-grown whopper. Speaking to The Sun, Mr Handbury said that speaking to his pumpkin - every night for three months - was the key to the vegetable's gargantuan size. However, despite winning the national pumpkin championships in Broughton, Hants, an accolade which carries a £50 reward, Mr Handbury was still out of pocket, as it cost him £80 to transport the 816lb monster. The obvious solution to the financial deficit, Bushel Box would suggest, is to sell the pumpkin - either as an ingredient for an extremely large soup, or, with a circumference of 13ft 8in, as material for a Jack 'O' lantern in the shape of Frank Sidebottom.
