Produce World Butterwick has got stuck into Boston in Bloom this year in the name of community spirit.

Working closely with the Thistles Adult Day Centre in Sutterton, Produce World Butterwick has been sponsoring a number of initiatives across the Lincolnshire town of Boston.

Cathy Oytaben, safety and environmental manager at Produce World Butterwick, said: “We donated £400 to allow Thistles to purchase rail sleepers in order for raised beds to be constructed for individuals in wheelchairs and others to enjoy. Everyone at Thistles played a part and along with volunteers, constructed the beds and laid paving to provide wheelchair access.'

Thistles were also given a dinghy to restore, with Produce World sponsoring the planting of native seashore plants. This somewhat unusual flowerbed is now located at the town quayside for the public to enjoy.

Employees from Produce World - the UK's largest grower and supplier of fresh produce - were involved in the Big Boston Clean Up as well.

A quintet from the Butterwick site took part in the day, which was part of a week-long activity run by Boston Borough Council in preparation for Boston in Bloom. Cathy Oytaben, Daz Cornell, Vita Steckaite, Geoff Horstwood and Aivaras Kanepejus were all keen to help out in a bid to improve the appearance of the town.

And as if that wasn't enough, Produce World Butterwick and Burgess Farms have also taken on sponsorship of the Bargate roundabout in Boston.
