Crisis at Christmas dinner

A Crisis Christmas dinner

Vegetable supplier Produce World has teamed up with charity Crisis to provide hundreds of meals to the homeless over Christmas.

The company is donating over 11 tonnes of fresh vegetables, which will be distributed around London’s nine Crisis centres.

The donated vegetables include nearly six tonnes of potatoes, over 1.5 tonnes of red cabbage and one tonne of carrots. Broccoli, cauliflower, onions and sprouts are also being donated.

Andrew Ovens, Produce World marketing director, said: “We are proud to be supporting such a worthy charity this Christmas. The work that Crisis at Christmas does is second to none and we hope that our donation goes some way to improving the festive period for those in need.”

Last year around 6,500 people slept on the streets of London and over 100,000 households across England and Wales approached their local council as homeless.

Crisis’ 8,000 volunteers will prepare a total of 21,000 meals for the homeless over Christmas.
