Produce World, one of the UK’s leading vegetable suppliers, has announced the appointment of Paul Wilkinson, former executive chairman of RHM, as its new non-executive chairman.

After graduating from Oxford with a first class honours degree, Wilkinson joined Unilever and held a number of senior commercial roles before moving to Grand Metropolitan plc as managing director of its dairy subsidiaries including Eden Vale and Express Foods. In 1988 he started his career at RHM, which spanned 15 years, the last seven of which were as executive chairman. He now holds a number of part-time chairman and advisory roles including Improve Ltd, IAWS plc the Irish Food Group, Big Bear Ltd and Wragge &Co.

William Burgess, ceo of Produce World, said: “Paul’s extensive experience in the food industry will be of enormous benefit to the company as we develop our product range and supply structure. My board and I are looking forward to working with such a renowned and talented industry figure.”

Wilkinson said: “I am excited about the opportunity of working with the Produce World team and helping to accelerate the company’s development into the added value sector. The ongoing trend towards healthy and more convenient foods makes fresh produce a particularly interesting market to be involved in at this stage.”
