The Princess Royal, HRH Princess Anne, visited new Covent Garden last week and was given a tour of both the flower market and fruit and vegetable market.
"The visit was a great success," reported the market authority's Helen Evans. "The Princess was relaxed and enjoyed banter with the traders. She was very interested in the produce and where and how it was grown, especially UK produce. She asked some very searching questions and displayed a deep interest in horticulture in general."
In the fruit and vegetable picture, Princess Anne is talking to Mike Roberts and Damian Fowler of Gilgrove, with Leif Mills, chairman of Covent Garden Market Authority. In the Flower Market she is with Greg Morgan of KG Flowers.
