Peter Youngs of RH & R Pauls has been named Anglian Produce Growers champion grower for 2001. Youngs has been a pioneer in the production of early season potato crops in Suffolk supplied by Greenvale AP to major pre-packers for the multiples. The company also won the primary pre-pack award.

The awards were held at a dinner just before Christmas in Norwich and were presented by David Richardson, a Norfolk farmer and broadcaster.

RM & CM Brown & Son won the award for specialist processing.

Tesco sponsored a new award this year for the best sustainable project which was presented by Sandy Norman to Andrew Williams of Home Farm Nacton, Suffolk, for 'representing the way in which a farm should be run in production of food.' Other awards went to Bolwick Farms, Norfolk for general prepack; Alston & Donald, Norfolk for french fry; S A Shaw, Cheshire for crisping; Hugh Crane Ltd, Norfolk for import/export; T R Stubbs & Son, Aston, North Cheshire for wholesale.

Anglian Produce Growers is the grower co-operative of potato supplier Greenvale AP.
