The council is organising four practical and interactive workshops at: Newport, Salop on February 12; Peterborough on February 20; York on February 24 and Perth on February 25.

Each event runs from 10.30am to 4pm and starts with a main presentation about business management from Barclays Bank and the Scottish Agricultural College. The sessions will focus on providing timely advice for managing production costs and handy tips for carrying out a business health check.

The afternoon session at each event will give delegates a chance to choose three different workshops from four subject areas, such as blight control using the BPC's interactive blight mapping programme, water use and irrigation, reducing damage at harvest and new codes of practice for dessicating crops before harvest.

'The sessions are packed full of practical advice which can be used immediately on farms and leading industry experts are available for free one-to-one discussion,' said BPC knowledge transfer manager Rob Clayton.
