The potato fungicide Electis has been recognised by the prestigious Arvalis Institute in France and has been declared among the top three potato late blight fungicides.

John Edmonds, European technical manager for Gowan Comércio, owners of the active ingredient in the product, zoxamide, said: “Financed by French farmers, Arvalis is a national research institute involved in applied research and agronomy in agriculture. It operates from 35 sites throughout France and employs the expertise of more than 300 scientists. One of its key roles is to assess product performance and this year Electis (or Aderio as it is known in France) has been given the highest rating for low and high disease pressure and also the highest rating for tuber blight protection. This means that Electis is considered by the Institute to be one of the three best late blight fungicides, along with Ranman (cyazofamid) and Revus (mandipropamid).

“Electis [performed well] at the recent Potato Blight Open Day at Eurofins in the East Midlands," said Edmonds. "With a different mode of action, unique activity on zoospores, strong foliar and tuber blight activity and up to 10 applications allowed per crop, Electis is a product that can easily be integrated into any blight control programme.”
