Potatoes in Practice will show growers new R&D

Potatoes in Practice, the annual field-based potato event for the potato industry, will focus on the subject of herbicide sensitivity this year.

The event, which takes place August 9 at Balruddery farm in Dundee, will also have displays covering haulm destruction and the use of mineral oils to combat viruses.

Robert Burns, head of seed export at the Potato Council, said: “Potatoes in Practice will give farmers and growers a fantastic opportunity to have a look at the newest government and industry-supported research.

"This year we’ll be looking at key R&D developments and how growers can tackle this season’s key challenges, with valuable information that could make a real difference to businesses.”

Trials and demonstrations will take place from the likes of Potato Council, The James Hutton Institute, SAC and Agrii.
