The British Potato Council-led event for the UK sector - British Potato 2007 - is to kick off on November 28.

The two-day show will take place at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate.

More than 150 leading companies from the UK and Europe will exhibit at the show and, according to its organisers, the event will offer a comprehensive seed to supermarket approach.

The theme of the conference - A Challenging Future - will track prospects for the potato industry, and a series of workshops and seminars will share research-related information in areas of potato-growing that are subject to the most change or external pressures.

An industry dinner will also provide networking opportunities.

The event is sponsored by UK supplier Branston Ltd.

Tickets will go on sale in August.

The standard cost of attending the event is £14. Tickets to the conference, which costs £65 for levy payers and corporate members and £100 for others, and the dinner, which costs £45, will both be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
