Three new cases of potato blight have been confirmed according to a report from the British Potato Council (BPC).

The cases were discovered in the Isle of Thanet - Kent, Helmsley - North Yorkshire, Coltishall – Norfolk, placing crops in the areas under threat from the disease.

Each infection was identified by a BPC 'blight scout' who set about burning-off the infected plants. The BPC has stressed the importance of checking potato dumps and to destroy any growth. Growers should also watch out for potato volunteers.
