Recent warm and wet weather conditions have proved ideal for development of the disease, according to the British Potato Council.

Cases have been identified in growing crops in the areas of Truro in Cornwall, Petworth in West Sussex, Attleborough and Aylesham in Norfolk, Stourbridge in the West Midlands, Malton and York in Yorkshire and in the Pitlochry area in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland.

Incidents have also been confirmed in a potato dump in the Mounthooley area on the Scottish borders and in volunteers in the North Walsham area of Norfolk.
