NFU horticulture board member Guy Poskitt has joined the speaker line-up for the FPJ-National Fruit Show Conference on 16 October.

Poskitt will discuss key issues of relevance to growers, including burning topics such as seasonal workers and pesticides.

Other speakers at the event include Sainsbury's retail director Helen Buck; Carol Ford of Partners in Produce, who will focus on modern methods of fresh produce marketing; and Janine Climie of Maidstone Studio School, who will discuss how to educate a new generation of horticulturalists.

Mark Lumsdon-Taylor of Hadlow College will examine the possibilities presented by apprenticeships, while Professor John Price, Master of the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers and a retired paediatrician, will talk about how to get children enthused about eating fruit.Consultant Rene Pollak will discuss the Say No to Drift campaign.

Also speaking are Janet Goode and Neil Emery of Whitehead Monckton and Mike Butler of Compo Expert UK, who will cover a range of issues of relevance to growers.

The event, which takes place at the Kent Showground in Detling, is sponsored by Whitehead Monckton.
