Growers are being offered a specialised consultancy service to help them meet the requirements of the major multiples.
Richard Porter, formerly of Sainsbury's has 15 years experience in this area, spending more than five years as data control manager in the scientific-services division, responsible for entering all own-label product specifications onto an in-house database.
He has already found that his new company Solutions for Specifications is in demand with Barfoots of Botley. "Others are in the pipeline," Porter said.
