The British Polish Chamber of Commerce is hoping to improve relations between Polish exporters and UK food processors, buyers and marketers with its first Agrifood forum.
The event, sponsored by Tesco and Ernst & Young Consulting, will take place near Poland’s capital Warsaw on November 23. The programme includes a series of seminars on food processing, the organic market, EU funds, promotion of agrifood clusters, marketing and branding, standards and logistics.
Martin Oxley, ceo of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce said: “We’re bringing Polish and UK food sector companies together at a major event, which is worth the attention of any UK firm involved in food processing, import and export, food logistics, storage or marketing.
“The Polish food market, with 38.2 million consumers, offers many excellent, yet mainly unexploited opportunities. Poland’s potential is huge - it has a strong GDP growth and is strategically placed to become the hub of food production and export to the entire central and eastern European region (75 million consumers) and markets further east.”
According to Oxley, Poland boasts unpolluted land and traditional agriculture, which make it a highly suitable organic proposition, while its low labour costs and produce prices make it ideal for food processing.
The forum will also provide several opportunities for UK delegates to meet Polish food specialists as well as sample some of the region’s culinary specialities.
