Some of Europe's largest retailers and wholesalers made the trip to Amsterdam for the world's biggest private label show. The Private Label Manufacturers Association's event attracted around 5,000 visitors Major retailers and wholesalers at the event included; Sainsbury's, Carrefour, Wal-Mart, Ahold and Aldi. And they were busy making plans to keep building their private label ranges in a wide variety of formats.

Steve Foster, former editor-in-chief of Checkout magazine led a seminar examining the innovative merchandising programme aimed at children and their parents called Blue Parrot Café. The programme by Sainsbury's, combines special product development, packaging and promotion.

The food hall at the show offered a wide array of products, including packaged and canned foods, fresh, frozen and chilled food products ? such as fruit, vegetables, delicatessen and ready meals and exhibitors representing manufacturers from more than 60 countries.
