Plimsoll Publishing’s analysis has found that the difference in sales growth between individual companies in the fresh produce industry is dramatic.

Larger companies are seeing their sales grow by 2.9 per cent annually while smaller companies are racking up 2.6 per cent growth levels.

These companies are also more efficient at generating sales from their asset base than smaller companies: an average of £3.29 per £1 invested.

Pre-tax profit returns on total assets of a larger company are 3.3 per cent while smaller firms manage -0.8 per cent.
