International packaging specialist, the PFM Group celebrated its 20th anniversary at its Leeds based operation last week with an open day and tour of the UK subsidiary’s facilities, as well as a couple of announcements.

Managing director of Italian company, PFM, Sergio Peracchi, took the opportunity to announce that the company is opening a new subsidiary - much like the UK base - in Moscow. He also launched the formation of PFMeccanica, which has been created within the PFM Group to supply component parts to the four manufacturing sites in the North of Italy.

UK-based PFM operations manager, Chris Bolton, was another key speaker at the event, and rejoiced in how much the company had achieved in 20 years. The PFM Group started off with a small rented industrial unit in the UK with three employees, but now it is the owner of an 8,600sqft site and has subsidiaries all over the world, he said. “We now employ 19 people at the UK base and will try to diversify into other areas. We already have bases in Canada and Germany, with a headquarters in Italy, but our latest edition to the group, PFMeccanica, is very exciting. We will now have a purpose-built site for machine components, instead of sub-contracting the work out.”
