FareShare, the national food charity, has launched a new fleet of delivery vehicles thanks to Petit Forestier, the leading chilled vehicle specialist.

Petit Forestier has adopted FareShare and has put together a support package for the charity which includes five free vehicles.

Petit Forestier ceo, David Richards said: “Petit Forestier has always tried to support good causes in the past but we wanted to find a charity partner where we could enhance the charity’s work and have a real and positive impact by utilising our range of products, services, and expertise and business networks.

“At the heart of FareShare lies a food logistics operation. We are proud to be working in partnership to help develop their surplus food service to the food industry and to see our vehicles delivering food across the UK so that thousands of vulnerable people are able to eat a good meal everyday.”

FareShare’s ceo Tony Lowe feels that developing strategic partnerships with charities is the way forward for businesses: “Petit Forestier is a one of a breed of new companies that is thinking creatively and looking for ways to have a positive and lasting impact. By looking at long-term partnerships and using the businesses’ range of skills, knowledge and resources coupled with financial investment, they can have a much greater impact on the communities and environment in which they work”.

The new fleet will operate across the UK collecting and distributing over 2,000 tonnes of good quality surplus food to over 250 local charities.

“Every day, more than 12,000 people will eat a meal prepared with the food these vehicles deliver, that’s over 3.3 million meals in a year. Without this support much of this food, despite being perfect, would end up wasted and sent to landfill.” said Lowe.
