A strong increase in Peruvian mangoes is expected this year, according to Peru Exporters Association (Adex).
Mango exports from Peru in the first four months of the year totaled $619 million worth of product - a 48 per cent increase compared to last year, which had made the country $21m, according to Fructidor.com.
The main buyers are the Netherlands with 41 per cent and the US with 35 per cent of total volume. The UK is the destination for eight per cent of volume with France, Spain and Canada.
Other countries involved in importing Peruvian mangoes are Canada, Germany, Belgium, Chile and New Zealand.
The largest company in the market is Sunshine Export with $8.1m sales - 14 per cent of total exports. Then Camposol with $6m and Dominus $2.6m.
