The fruits & Veggies - More Matters logo is now on more than 1,000 different food labels in stores across the US.

To carry the Fruits & Veggies - More Matters logo, food products must meet strict nutrition guidelines for total fat, saturated fat, trans-fat, added sugar, fibre and sodium content. Consumers can look for the logo when shopping as a designation that a product is nutritious.

Retailers, growers, packers and manufacturers across the country are showing their support of fruit and vegetable consumption by including the Fruits & Veggies - More Matters logo prominently on both nationally marketed, brand-name products, such as those from Green Giant, Sunkist, Welch’s and others, as well as on the private label products of several grocery chains.

Elizabeth Pivonka, president and ceo of the Produce for Better Health (PBH) Foundation, the non-profit entity that, together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is behind the Fruits & Veggies - More Matters health initiative, said: “Not all products will qualify to use the logo; we evaluate each product’s ingredients and nutrition panel to ensure that it meets the CDC’s stringent guidelines, before we allow the logo to appear on its packaging.

“While there are other good products on the market that contain a substantial amount of fruits and veggies, because indeed more matters, you can be assured that items carrying this logo are the best of the best.”
