Three firms have been honoured by foodservice specialist Pauleys in its supplier awards for 2007.
The company works with more than 40 companies nationwide.
Top-fruit and citrus supplier Eurodix won the outstanding service award for its excellence, especially in technical and commercial support, during a very difficult year with increased costs in freight, packaging and labour. The challenge was all the greater, said Pauleys, because the availability of crop in its specification was reduced in both northern- and southern-hemisphere citrus due to adverse weather conditions.
Pauleys honoured ware and prepared potato supplier MBMG with its innovation of the year award for the development and implementation of prepared potato packaging, with a superior seal to protect product against damage during transit.
And overall supplier of the year was soft-fruit specialist Well Pict for its support on the implementation of the Brakes/Pauleys local strawberry campaign, and continuous outstanding loyalty and service. Pauleys also commended Well Pict on new 400g, rather than 250g, packs for strawberries, which brought a nine-tonne reduction in cardboard and plastic usage.
Craig Buttress, Pauleys purchasing manager, said: “Our annual awards are the perfect way for us to acknowledge our suppliers who have gone the extra mile, given excellent service, shown strong innovation in product and packaging, and given great support to Pauleys.
“MBMG, Eurodix and Well Pict have all shown these attributes over the last year, and we would like to thank them.”
