The Gangmasters Licensing Authority has carried out a series of unannounced visits to the largest industrial estate in London at Park Royal and found “a worrying lack of awareness” of its existence. Park Royal houses 2,000 businesses, many in the food sector, which between them employ some 40,000 people and the GLA has visited 30, discovering a range of concerns. The aim of the operation was to see if businesses operating within the GLA’s regulated sector are aware of the organisation and if they use labour, whether it is from a licensed source.
