Nick MacDonald and Paul Herman of Pokon & Chrysal International received the first ETI declaration of conformity. With this document MPS declared that the company officially complies with the requirements laid down by the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) in its base code of labour practice.

With growing concern among consumers that the goods they buy should be produced in conditions that are safe and decent, scandals in the industry have served to damage consumer confidence.

Pokon & Chrysal International does a lot of business with UK supermarkets and to assure these supermarkets that they practise good labour standards, the company had asked MPS to declare that they officially comply with the requirements of the ETI base code.

Members of the ETI include multinational companies or transnational companies committed to business ethics and corporate responsibility, promotion of worker rights and human rights in general. In employment, ethical business includes looking at health and safety, labour conditions and labour rights.
