Specialist garlic and ginger importers Pan United were at Fruit Logistica for the fifth year running, said sales executive Syd Edwards.

“It’s the biggest fruit and veg show in Europe and if you’re not here then you’re not being seen.

“Being here before has allowed us to make new contacts and helped establish us in new markets.”

The company’s core business is in garlic and ginger from China, but in recent years it has expanded its portfolio to include Fuji apples, also from China, and sweet potatoes from South Africa, among others.

Edwards said its core market remained the wholesale sector in the UK, but they were also supplying produce to markets all over Europe.

The show was vital for the company to meet existing customers as well as picking up new business, he added.
