David Beeby, chief executive of Innovia Films, is to become chairman of the Packaging and Films Assocation (PAFA) - the trade association which represents the £2 billion UK flexible packaging and plastic films industry.
Beeby takes over from outgoing chairman David Read, who has returned to his company’s US head office.
Beeby was appointed ceo of Innovia Films in 2004 following the buy-out of the UCB Films business and has a long career in the packaging sector, during which he has passionately supported the industry in the UK and across Europe.
He has been president of the FPA (the UK Flexible Packaging Association) which merged with PAFA in 2007 and has also been president of the European Flexible Packaging Association and Flexible Packaging Europe, where he was a stalwart promoter of innovative flexible packaging solutions.
Barry Turner, PAFA’s chief executive designate, said: “This is an exciting time for PAFA as we continue the strong momentum of support for our members at national and international level. Many of our products lead the world in innovation and our voice has gained enormous respect across the globe - in areas including technical standards, legislation and environmental issues.
"In accepting the post of chairman, David is bringing vast experience and knowledge at a time when our members are well placed to lead the economic recovery with high-performance, low-impact products which protect, preserve and promote.”
