Three new industry apprenticeships will train young people to become packhouse managers, crop technicians and stock managers and are available for industry feedback.

The packhouse line manager apprenticeship opened for industry consultation today (22 October), with industry stakeholders being asked for feedback on proposed standards, available for download from the AHDB website. So far, standards will train young people to supervise personnel, machinery and IT systems to achieve production targets.

The crop technician apprenticeship has already being through the consultation stage, and a consultation for a stock person apprenticeship will open later this year.

“As an employer, being able to get involved in the development of the new standards is vitally important to ensure we have access to high quality training that is relevant to our business,” said G’s Fresh HR director, Beverly Dixon.

“Having apprenticeships designed for a specific role not only gives the young person a solid foundation in their chosen career but will also ensure that the business has a fully competent member of staff when they complete who is more likely to stay within the business.”
