Cold storage facilities sustained fire damage

Organic Farm Foods has managed to maintain business as usual despite a fire at its Honeybourne site on March 25 which caused a nine-hour evacuation of the premises.

The fire at the Welsh organic-produce company’s Vale of Evesham site broke out at around 2.20pm and is believed to have started on a mezzanine floor in the west of the building. It was speedily and well contained by 11 fire engines from three counties, but damage was caused to cold storage facilities.

Peter Segger, md at Organic Farm Foods, praised other local produce suppliers. "They came to our aid and offered support and logistical help within hours of the fire breaking out," said Segger. "The community spirit was fantastic and I would like to thank all our friends in the area."

The site will be repaired and fully operational in under a month and although storage capacity has been reduced in the meantime, the company’s ability to service customers is unaffected, Segger added.
